Dermapen™ utilises multiple needles to vertically pierce the skin with patent-pending AOVN™ (Advanced Oscillating Vertical Needle) technology. Dermapen 3™ glides over the skin, creating millions of fine channels. These channels can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients, encouraging delivery of these nutrients deeper into the skin to feed cells in the dermis and basal layer of the epidermis. Dermapen™ systematically creates micro-punctures in the skin and the body naturally responds by launching processes to repair the physical damage. The result is an increased production of normal woven collagen, similar to that achieved by fractional laser treatments, but without the side effects and downtime. Practitioners find Dermapen™ Treatments to be more effective and more beneficial than most microdermabrasion and chemical peels. When compared to traditional dermal rollers, Dermapen causes less epidermal (skin) damage, reducing levels of pain and discomfort. As a result Dermapen is a safer, more comfortable, and more effective micro-needling treatment (see image below). For optimal results, an appropriate regime of DP Dermaceuticals should be determined by your clinician to encourage the skin to strengthen (especially for thin or delicate skin areas). Continue to use DP Dermaceuticals recommended by your clinician after the treatments for a period of 6 weeks. The DP Dermaceuticals™ range is suitable for ongoing home care.
Typically, you will see results after the first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will become visible after 4 to 6 treatments (spaced 4-6 weeks apart). The condition of your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months after a course of treatments, especially when combined with the recommended post-treatment care.
For minimal needle depths, Dermapen Treatments are relatively painless. Treatments using depths over 0.5mm may require a topical anaesthetic cream to be applied for 15-40 minutes before the procedure. This will render the treatments virtually pain-free.
Generally no, but you may experience facial redness for 12-48 hours after the treatment. Most people are able to return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment. Application of a breathable camouflage will seal the skin and cover any redness for an immediate return to work.
While there is no clinical evidence that Dermapen™ Treatments counteract with any particular injectables, it is important to let your clinician know if you have had an injectable treatment, or are planning on having one done in the near future.
